Walls: Images from a disused prison

When I originally visited the disused HMP Blundeston a couple of years back my primary interest was the fact notorious London gangster Reggie Kray had once called it home. Looking back on those images with fresh eyes, I am seeing something else: about boundaries, repetition and reflections. The image above is of a a room at Blundeston for prison visits. It was used when prisoners were being denied the right to see their loved ones in person, where touch and contact was forbidden. The prisoner sat on the side from which the image was taken. The family on the other side of the glass.
