The ancient port city of Cadiz is a jewel of an ancient city that keeps watch out over the Atlantic. No, seriously, it takes watching the Atlantic very seriously. The city (the oldest continuously occupied settlement in Europe, apparently) has more than 100 watchtowers dotted around the habitations of its slim promontory.
Yet this architecture of vigilance stands in stark contrast to the effortless chic and welcoming humour of its people. Cadiz, you’ve won yet another grateful fan.
